Exclamation Visio Internal Error #3400

WTF ...
I'm working late to try and get ahead, i go to save my file
and get this :
"Visio Internal Error #3400
Action 1004: Save

First Try closing and re-opening the file. Then try restarting Visio...."

I mean it was just 1/2 hours work lost, but it seems we have a repeatable process, it happened last nite too, but i didnt think anything of it, because SI4.6 seemed fine today, working with existing projects...

Are you guys adopting the M$FT posture of forced upgrades by breaking old stuff? If so thats a big

Please somebody help..

Have you checked with Microsoft for articles on this error message? It does say it is a Microsoft Office Visio error message and not a D-Tools one...not to mention that you said D-Tools worked fine all day. A quick Google search for "Visio Error 3400" comes up with a ton of information. I would start there if I were you.

Default You don't say...

I did google and all i came up with was people who had that problem in different applications....and MSDN postings that i can't see because I'm not a registered MSDN developer

Well this clearly is a forum for D-tools SI4 Visio and if you look at the screen shot, you can clearly see d-tools running in the Visio Menu bar...I was looking for someone who had this problem before, thanks for the help.... but not really.... Soccer sux anyway

For whatever reason, I think that D-tools Visio thinks that the file is locked or something stupid....

I said " but i didnt think anything of it, because SI4.6 seemed fine today, working with existing projects..." My problem is with new projects.....

Help, anyone? The Project is still open, id rather not lose my work... I will check back in the morning, see if anyone had some helpfull input

Preferably not Stupid suggestions? I did search the forums threads too before anyone suggests that....

OUCH!

How about this...did you try opening the file outside of D-Tools and Visio? In other words, try browsing to the file and double clicking on it. I bet you get the same results. Which would mean that you have a Visio problem...not a D-Tools problem.

You could try resetting the menu bar...

(go to tools -> customize -> click on the "toolbars" tab -> highlight "menu bar" and then select "reset").

This will give you the ability to do a "save as" and try saving it in another area with a different name.

You could also print the document... though that's not a complete solution, it's atleast partial...

Have you inserted any OLE objects? This seems to be a "trigger" for this error... This happened to me with a PDF object once, and I had to remove the PDF in order to save. (I ended up converting the PDF to a JPEG and re-inserting).

Btw... soccer is the world's best sport, even if Manchester does suck.

Exclamation Visio Internal Error 3400

Ok, so I try browsing to the file, and double click it, right click open, and nothing happens..

I tried resetting the menu bar, and it did not give me a "save as" option..

SIFan, Yes it does have PDFs in it, but I have a ton of other projects that have PDFs in them......

Why is there an option to insert Object PDF if it doesnt work?(consistantly)????? Anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I've been inserting PDF's all the time, but I had issues with a handful... maybe some properties or settings in the PDF's??

I'd try removing the PDF's, and then saving... worst case, you can convert the PDF's into a picture format and re-insert them.

And btw. It's consistently

There are several free utilities out there that will convert from PDF to JPEG... or, you can see if your Adobe product will allow you to do a "save as"...

Here are some links to those free utilities...

Thumbs up

Actually i did a much more crude method to get the PDF into JPEG.

From Acrobat Reader I selected the image using "snapshot tool", then went straight to MSPAINT, "Paste" and "save as .JPEG"

But i will check the utilities...Thanks
